Live Link between Revit and Fuzor

Fuzor creates a live link with Autodesk Revit to produce high quality real- time rendering of architectural projects instantly and effortlessly. The live link is what allows Fuzor to instantly update and reflect the modifications done in a Revit file. Fuzor creates a perfect visual platform to communicate BIM data and design effectively.

Load Large Revit Files

One of the strengths of Fuzor is its ability to load and render large Revit projects. Currently the way we define a large Revit project is, "if Revit is able to open it, we should be able to load it." For projects that are larger then what Revit likes to support, Fuzor allows multiple cache files to be loaded at the same time. To use this workflow, make cache files of smaller chucks of a project, and then load all the cache files together without synching from Revit.

The use of multiple cache files is suggested when working with projects that have a large number of linked files the exceed 2GB of data. In these situations load small portions of linked files into Revit and create cache files. Once all the cache files have been created, close Revit, and then load all the cache files at one time into Fuzor. Now the user will be able to see the full project loaded into Fuzor.

Support Multiple Revit Instances

Fuzor has always allowed users the ability to edit linked files, but now instead of closing and opening files in one instance of Revit, Fuzor will allow multiple instances of Revit to be opened. Users are now able to have multiple instances of Revit create a Live Link with Fuzor.

Launch multiple instances of Revit that are associated with the current synchronization to allow users the ability to edit different linked files, in the different Revit instances, and have the information update in Fuzor.

Custom Animations

One of Fuzor's original ideas is, "users already do all of their work in Revit, so let's use this information and help architects display their work." With this basic idea in mind, Fuzor's quick synchronization times make it simple for architects to take a Revit project and present it to clients. To give these presentations a bit more life Fuzor allows for objects and doors to have custom animations.

Placing an animation on a door is a simple task that takes about 15 to 20 seconds. The great thing about this process is that once a door has been animated, all instances of that door are also animated, across all projects. Now, while presenters navigate the avatar around the project, they are able to click on doors to activate the doors animation.

Users are also able to apply a rotate animation to objects or pieces of objects. This is great for adding some extra finishing touches to a project by animating ceiling fans, animating a rotating door in a lobby, or animating the blades on a windmill in the backdrop of a project. The possibilities are endless and the applications are left to the architect and their creativity.

Fuzor Tree Placement

When presenting a project to a client it is important to create a scene that is both beautiful and accurate. To assist with this task Fuzor replaces the Revit file RPC foliage using SpeedTree trees. Previously to use this option, users had to place all their trees in Revit. Then, when the Revit file is synchronized with Fuzor, the RPC trees would be replaced with Fuzor's 3D version. This is no longer the case, users are now able to place trees in Fuzor without working in Revit.

Like many of the features added to Fuzor, placing trees independent of Revit was requested by our clients. Fuzor's new tree placement system allows them exactly that. Users are able to view the tree options directly in Fuzor's UI, select the desired foliage type, and place it into the scene. Once in the scene, users are able to move, rotate, and scale the foliage to their liking. When everything is complete, click the save button and save out the foliage file to be loaded back into Fuzor at a later date.

Physics Environment

One of the key features that Fuzor has is our physics generation for objects. Part of the synchronization process that Fuzor goes through is the physics generation. What this allows Fuzor to do is provide users with an avatar to walk around their project. With physics the avatar will have to use doors to enter and exit rooms, walk up and down stairs, and avoid furniture when moving through furnished areas. A fully physics environment allows designers and clients the ability to experience the space that has been created.

Cinematic Editor

Presentations are a large part of all projects, so Fuzor creates an easy environment for users to quickly and accurately show off their project to a client. Now to keep clients up to date and in the loop without having to constantly visit them, Fuzor has created a cinematic system that will allow users the ability to pass clients a video of the progress. Fuzor allows users to make either a fly through cinematic or an avatar walkthrough cinematic. Both are extremely simple to make and can easily be done using either the Take Cinematic feature or the Walkthrough Video feature.

Clash Analysis

Fuzor can also help with the validation of a project with the help of the Clash Manager. The Clash Manager allows users to create clash reports and run clash detection tests. The results from the test can be saved out as a Fuzor Clash Project and loaded into Fuzor at a later date.

Once a clash test has finished users are able to immediately start correcting their clashing objects. Fuzor helps with this by allowing all their linked files to stay loaded into Fuzor while users change between different projects in Revit. Fuzor also allows users to select which object they would like to correct. Once the object is selected, Fuzor will send the object, and project it is associated with, to Revit. Revit will then open the project, in either the same instance or a new instance of Revit, and select the chosen object. This allows users the ability to correct any issues associated with that object.

Once the clash has been edited, Fuzor will re-test the object for any new clashes. If no new clashes are detected, and the original clash has been resolved, Fuzor will change the clash status from active to resolved.

Composite Cross Section View

Fuzor has always supported Revit's section views and section box. To expand on this feature, Fuzor also allows users the option to create section views or boxes independent of Revit. Fuzor's section views allow users the ability to adjust and move their section views in real time. Taking this feature one step further, Fuzor now allows users the ability to create and use multiple cross section views at the same time.

Category Customization and Colorization

While hosting meetings across different disciplines, it's important to quickly identify objects to find the best solution to a troubled area. To assist with this, Fuzor allows users to apply colors to specific categories for easy identification. In a step to help even further with solving some of the complex design situations, Fuzor will allow users the ability to hide categories. This is great for clearing some of the non-essential objects out of the way leaving the root of the issue.

These options, like all other features in Fuzor, are simple and easy to apply. Users only have to open the visibility control menu and select the category that they would like to apply either the color or visibility override too. Colors are applied with the use of a color picker and the visibility is controlled with a toggle. Once applied to a discipline Fuzor will instantly update with the change.

Fuzor Annotations

Adding annotations to a project can improve efficiency and quality of work. Fuzor makes this task simple and effective. Selecting an object in Fuzor and using the Annotation button will create a note for someone to view at a later date. Fuzor also saves the camera's position and angle from when the note was created. Now when the annotation is viewed, the camera will synchronize back to the saved creation position, allowing the reader to see exactly what the annotator saw.

These annotation files can be saved and passed onto the next user. Users load in the files and then see a list of all the annotations. An object that has an annotation will appear as a red shaded object. Users can either click the annotated object to sync with the annotation, or they can select the annotation from the list and jump to the saved position.

Annotation files can also be loaded into Revit. Selecting an annotation in Revit will change the plan view to a view with the annotated object, as well as select the object enabling it for modifications. You are also able to enable a highlight feature that will create a red outline on all annotated objects in the Revit file.

2D Navigation Map

Exploring new or unfamiliar projects can be a difficult process. Large scale projects can be hard to navigate. To assist in this issue Fuzor has a 2D navigation map that will inform users where they are in the project.

Users are able to zoom in and out on the map to get a better look at the project or a more precise look at where they are. The option to change the map to a rotating map as well as having the map automatically change to the correct floor will make navigation extremely easy. Users should be able to quickly navigate within the project with little questions of where they are with the help of the 2D map.

To make navigation a little bit easier you are able to teleport to different parts of the project using the 2D map. Clicking on a point on the 2D map will teleport your avatar to the clicked position, or users are able to select the desired level from a dropdown list of project elevations. Now navigating room to room no longer involves walking to find doors.

Viewer and Cache Files

To help with client presentations and office collaboration, users are able to create a cache file or a viewer. Viewers are created as an executable and do not require the user to have Fuzor, while cache files can only be loaded into Fuzor. Cache files are great for office collaboration and viewers were designed specifically for clients.

Viewers do not require Fuzor and have a limited selection of features. This was done so that when the viewer is passed to the client, the client will see exactly what the creator intended them to see. In the viewer, users are only able to switch between free camera and avatar mode. With either of these options the user will be able to move around the project and nothing else. All other features have been removed from the viewer.

Cache files are completely different from the viewer. A cache file can only be viewed from Fuzor, but does not require Revit on the machine. A cache file holds all the project information, so that when loaded into Fuzor, the user will be able to see the project as if it was synchronized from Revit. Cache files are great for inner office collaboration since users are able to pass the files around the office for people to view and create annotations. Users are also able to load a cache file, and then launch Revit from the Fuzor. This will open the file for the object that is selected in Fuzor.

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

Fuzor Enterprise has a system that allows users to move around their project placing CCTV cameras. Once all CCTV cameras have been placed, users are able to enter into the CCTV viewer to switch between all camera views. Fine tuning the cameras can also be done by returning to placed cameras and using a gizmo to refine the position and orientation of the camera. Once all cameras are placed and tuned, users are able to save out a CCTV camera file. The CCTV camera file can be loaded in at a later time to perform additional changes o for presentation purposes.

Fuzor Light Analysis and Design

Fuzor creates lighting based on the lights and parameters created in Revit. As users create lights and provide those lights with values, Fuzor will update to reflect the changes. To take this system one step further, Fuzor also allows users the ability to tune the light intensity and temperature independent of Revit. Finally once the lighting has been created, Fuzor will allow users the ability to walk around their project and measure the lux level and even create a report of the lux levels throughout the project.

Adjusting the lighting in Fuzor can be done two different ways. The first method is by changing the values in Revit and allowing the live link system to update Fuzor. This process can be timely, so to assist with it, Fuzor has a second method for adjusting lights. Users are able to select a light in Fuzor and then use the Light Adjustment tool to change the intensity or temperature of a light (or adjust all instances of the light).

Once the lighting adjustments are complete users are able to explore the project using the light meter to test light intensity levels. Fuzor's avatar can be equipped with a light lux meter that will give out lux values as the avatar moves around, or users are able to create a light report for the entire project. Creating a light report will break the project up into a grid and take a lux level reading from each grid point. The end result will be an overhead image of the project broken up into a number/letter grid that can be used to reference the light values.

Construction cost estimating is of strategic importance for construction companies. Accuracy and velocity often decide whether a company wins a bid or not. The BOQs provide the basis for cost estimating and are usually imported from a data carrier. If used together with predefined template calculations, the entire process from the import of the BOQ to complete cost estimating only takes a few minutes. For the company's liquidity it is essential that invoices are issued on time. Nobody will pay without having been invoiced before. In the process "Site measuring-/ invoice checking" you administer and correct incoming invoices related to awarded contracts, import billing data carriers in acc. with ÖNORM or REB and check the estimated quantities submitted. If corrections are necessary, you can either make these corrections in a traceable form in individual lines of the estimate, and you will immediately see the effects this has on the overall results. Any changes are directly sent to the contractor in a correction protocol. You always have a good overview, which portion of the order quantity has already been billed and where the order quantity might be exceeded, also with cumulative partial and fi nal invoices. Possible appendices to the principal contract are also administered in this process, approved supplements are taken into account in the comparison order quantity and billing quantity.

Using the element and structural component cost estimate you can quickly and precisely determine the costs for the construction of a building. Elements consist of several items of different trades and summarize an entire structural component. These items are added to the element with an "estimated" factor based on experience. Elements should be formed from items of BOQs as it is thus possible to use current prices in the element book. Specifications based on trades can be automatically generated from element books and are then used as basis for invitations to tender. In addition element books may be used as basis for cost estimates (e.g. in accordance with DIN 276). Working with CAD (e.g. Allplan) offers the possibility to assign specific elements to the individual structural components during planning. The quantities derived from the structural model can be transferred to Nevaris to determine their exact costs.
